Episode 2 - Rebound Relationships
Rebound Relationships - Promises and Pitfalls
This week, guest host Bradley Richardson and I discuss whether the old adage that one should take time after the breakup of a longterm relationship before jumping back into dating. We’ll hear from three online daters with very different takes on this topic:
Paul, who extolls the virtues of diving in head first and “sowing some wild oats.”
Sharon, whose hard and fast rule is, “I’ve learned the hard way… avoid the newly divorced at all costs.”
Mary, who apparently didn’t get the memo on not being the first in line for the freshly available man.
According to a recent article in The Atlantic by Faith Hill, we shouldn’t be so quick to discount the value of rebound relationships - at least not for the newly unattached. Research shows that for some, these early rebound relationships can bolster self-confidence, reinforce one’s sense of emotional and sexual desirability, and promote a more rapid and healthy “letting go” of the emotional baggage from the previous relationship.
